5th International Conference on Computer Aided Design, Manufacture and Operation in the Railway and Other Advanced Mass Transit Systems - COMPRAIL 1996, Berlin (Germany). 21-23 August 1996
Summary:
This paper describes the development of the system SIRO, an optimal regulation tool for metro lines. SIRO combines simulation, optimisation and hierarchical control techniques. The objectives of the system are (1) to improve the quality of the service, (2) save energy and (3) to provide a powerful monitoring and operation environment. The paper summarizes the requirements, design and implementation phases of the project, emphasizing relevant aspects such as the optimisation techniques and the real-time aspects of the design.
